The MTA Should Be Placed Under Federal Receivership As Soon As Possible!!

My toes are still twitching a little from my afternoon of being screwed
again by the declining state of the MTA on Staten Island. It was cold on
that Tuesday before Christmas and like a lot of people i was at the
Staten Island Mall.

The Yukon MTA bus depot is right behind K Mart and I arrived at the
beginning of the line for the # 44 and # 61 buses that go to the St.
George Ferry Terminal.

I looked at my watch and then checked the # 61 bus schedule that was on
the pole. My watch said 1:29PM and the bus schedule said that the next #
61 bus was scheduled to leave at 1:35PM.

One of the waiting passengers walked up to me and asked me when the next
# 61 bus was scheduled to leave and I Told Him In Six Minutes!! This man
said that he and the other people had been waiting since about 1:10PM for
a # 61 Bus. I told him that the # 61 bus is getting as bad as the # 52
Bus with late and missing buses.

Well it just so happened that No Bus Driver Showed Up To Take One Of The
Buses In The Bus Stop And Do The 1;35PM Trip To The Ferry Terminal.
I took a picture of the buses and the IRATE PEOPLE!!

There Is Supposed To Be A Supervisory Official On Duty There To Make Sure
That The Buses Leave On Time; But There Was Not Anybody There To Do That.

I walked up the street to the blue shack and told the only person there
that the bus driver had not shown up. About 5 or 6 minutes later this
same bus driver came down and told me that the driver called in sick.

He then got onto the first bus and drove it into the depot. The next # 61
bus was scheduled to leave at 1:50PM but that driver did not show up
either.

This time another male passenger that was waiting walked up the street to
the blue shack and complained. Presently a bus maintenance worker came
down and drove the 1:50PM # 61 bus into the depot.

Eventually all of us got onto Bus 6342 for the 2:05PM # 61 bus trip to
the ferry terminal. I got off of the bus at Manor Road for a small errand.

I got back on # 61 Bus 6326 at 3:00PM and paid my fare and got a transfer.
I took the bus down Victory Blvd. to Cebra Avenue where I got off to
catch a # 52 bus. It was 3:19PM and I looked at the Bus Schedule on the
pole which said the next # 52 Would Be There At 3:24PM.

However I was the only one at the bus Stop so I figured that the 3:24PM
# 52 Bus Had Already Gone Past This bus Stop. The Next # 52 Bus Was
Scheduled to Be There At 3:44PM!!

The 3:44PM # 52 Bus Was Another NO SHOW and I was Fuming To Say The Least.

At 4:01PM I boarded Bus 3988 which was packed with irate people who saw
me writing down stuff as they grumbled about how the bus drivers keep
giving Staten Islanders The Shaft!!

At the corner of Jersey Street and Crescent Avenue the bus that I was on
stopped to let someone off of the bus . All of the passengers saw # 52
Bus 4003 Go Past Us And Stop At The Next Stop.

Just Utterly Unbelievable!!!

The MTA Should Be Placed Under Federal Receivership As Soon As Possible!!

You Betcha!!!
