It Is A Felony To Assault A Bus Driver!!
(2010-01-04 at 20:15:34 )
Mr. Jay H. Walder, Chairman MTA
347 Madison Avenue
New York, N.Y. 10017
Dear Mr. Walder:
I was the last person to get on bus # 4115 at 10:25AM this morning
( please add 2010 to your event date above ) as it headed toward the mall
on the S44s/w route.
I put down my bag and reached into my coat pocket for my $ 1.10 fare
( I am 65 and use a cane ) and I put in into the fare box and requested
a transfer.
I had to hold on because the bus driver had stepped on the gas like
someone was chasing him. While he was driving he had to look at the
farebox to press the button for the transfer to come up. I grabbed the
transfer with my right hand and put it into my pocket.
I did not want to get hurt so I held on with both hands right next to the
fare box. The bus driver had to stop for a traffic light so I picked up
my bag and walked past the white line to the bus interior.
At 12:57PM ( 1-4-10 ) on route S 62 n/e I boarded bus # 4256 just before
Manor Rd.
This bus driver has what I call Curbitis!! It is against his Religion to
pull any bus closer than two feet from the curb. If you ask him to please
lower the bus he scowls at you, Drops the bus for a millisecond and then
looks down the street as people struggle to get onto the bus.
I arrived at Cebra Ave. and Victory Blvd about 1;10PM and at 1:23PM I
boarded # 52 bus 6123 headed toward the ferry terminal. I did not
recognize the driver because that bus is always very early and I usually
miss it.
The drivers of the # 52 bus always Steal Time so when they get to the
St. George ferry terminal they discharge their passengers and change the
sign on the bus. Then they pull up to the # 52 spot and pick up whatever
people are there and leave the station.
When the people that get off of the boat looking for the # 52 bus it has
already left the station.
On September 7, 2009 I left Waldbaums Rosebank store and when I got to
Tomkins Ave. # 52 bus 4250 was stopped at the light. It was 11:59AM!!
When I got to the bus stop on Tompkins Ave. at Chestnut I looked at the
schedule on the pole and the # 52 bus that had just past was not
supposed to be there until 12:04PM!!
A # 78 bus came along so I caught it to the St. Gearge Ferry Terminal so
that I could catch bus 4250 as it headed out toward the Staten Island
University Hospital.
While I was seated at the ferry terminal for a few minutes I watched bus
4250 come onto Ramp D and the people got off as the bus driver changed
the sign.
The bus driver then pulled up to the # 52 spot and picked up the few
people that were there, including me.
Instead of waiting for the people to get off of the 12:30PM ferry boat
the bus driver just took off. It was 12:26PM!!!
There were people running along the side of the bus banging on the bus
for the driver to stop and pick them up but he just kept right on going!
Your Public Address System, Mr. Walder, states that it is a Felony to
Assault a bus driver.
What Do You Suggest The Riding Public Do To Get Real Public Service
From Your Agency Instead Of Being Shafted Every Single Day??
