Democrats May Yet Flock to Their Wild Card From the Astral Plane by Martin Sieff

With two rounds of debates already completed among the 20 Democratic candidates for next years United States presidential nomination and polling reactions back from all of them, we now have the nearest thing to solid data we can expect until the primaries are held and people actually get the chance to vote next year.

Yet some patterns are already strikingly clear.

First, former Vice President Joe Biden, sneered at by both the Mainstream Media (MSM) and the rising "New Generation" who flocked to Independent Senator Bernie Sanders in the 2016 primaries remains the man to beat.

But he is NOT the Establishments favorite choice at all.

Second, Mr. Biden remains the only candidate that incumbent President Donald Trump, who after all won both his own partys ferocious nomination race and then the national election in 2016, takes seriously and may even fear.

Third, the MSM and the Establishment want Senator Elizabeth Warren and they are determined to knock off Biden to get her.

Time magazine - as predictable a voice of the United States Establishment as Pravda was for the old Communist Party of the Soviet Union - has already devoted an entire issue to adoringly showcase Ms Warren and her endless absurd "plans."

Fourth, Ms Warren is President Trumps dream candidate.

The President positively salivates at the chance of tasking apart the cold, unlovable and potentially fraudulent "Pocahontas" over the coming year.

Fifth, Ms Warren is unlikely to politically survive long enough to get chewed up in President Trumps Twitter-Powered Joke Machine.

For her own Nemesis has already emerged: Ms Marianne Williamson, who unexpectedly was the runaway winner of an opinion poll after one of her appear debate appearances, is poised to blindside Ms Warren even more than Mr. Sanders blindsided the imperial coronation of Hillary Clinton in 2016.

If you think the platform of the Green New Deal is in Cloud Cuckoo Land, wait till you see the power of Ms Mariannes sacred crystals.

Imperial Matriarchy still rules the Democratic Party.

But Elizabeth Warren makes even Hillary Clinton look fuzzy, warm and human by contrast.

Ms Marianne Williamson however has been the Spiritual Counselor to Oprah Winfrey: Sacral Eminence among the great post-Christian, post-nuclear family, unanchored American feminine middle class comes no greater than that.

The successful practice of politics and national leadership, as Plutarch and Machiavelli both well understood, comes down to Personality and (type of) Character.

Mr. Joe Biden can win a national election if given the chance for the same reason that Donald Trump did and Boris Johnson in Britain will: Joe is genuinely likeable.

People relate to him.

He did vastly more for President Barack Obama in both his 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns than he was ever given credit for.

Mr. Biden made Ms Sarah Palin look a fool in the 2008 vice presidential debate without breaking a sweat.

In 2012, even more crucially, he demolished Republican "pretend to shrink the federal deficit" wonder boy Paul Ryan: That debate was vital because Republican candidate Mitt Romney had completely outgunned Obama in their first debate.

Mr. Bidens victory stalled Mr. Romneys surge in the polls and gave Mr. Obama the chance to come back and win decisively in the following two debates.

The shapers of Democratic Party Intellectual Opinion cannot stand the informal, "roll up the sleeves and talk to working stiffs" style of Mr. Biden. Instead, they revere Elizabeth Warren.

Yet Ms Warren is President Trumps dream candidate. And the imbecile mainstream media are playing into his hands by boosting her.

But if they manage to knock off Old Joe and replace him with Ms Warren, she has the same problem as Hillary Clinton in 2016: an ice cold personality who could certainly be cast as Nurse Ratched in the 1975 movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest."

If the MSM manage to crown Ms Warren as the Only Plausible Candidate, they will in reality clear the way for ex cabaret singer and enormously popular New Age spiritual counsellor Ms Marianne Williamson to knock her off.

Ms Williamson makes her living as an entertaining and charismatic lecturer. She is stealing the huge Democratic debates exactly the same way as Donald Trump easily won every single Republican debate three and four years ago because he was a veteran comedian and entertainer who understood the medium whereas all the earnest Policy Plodders around him did not have a clue.

Currently, not a single political pundit in the United States of America takes Ms Williamsons electoral chances seriously and if Mr. Biden succeeds in fending off his many enemies in his own partys pseudo-intellectual establishment and purist left and in the media, they will not have to.

But Ms Warren is the candidate Ms Williamson was designed by Unerring Fate and Destiny to demolish. And Ms Williamson knows a lot about Unerring Fate and Destiny. She has made a brilliant career out of talking about it.

Ms Williamson now is precisely where Donald Trump was when he came down that fabled escalator in Trump Tower and threw his hat in the political ring in 2015.

She is an immensely popular and wealthy national figure and hero-heroine who is also a superb communicator and entertainer. She has an enormous and passionate fan base who follow her through everything.

That very same skill set propelled Donald Trump straight into the Oval Office.

A seasoned, canny old political professional who genuinely likes people and is capable of showing it can easily handle such bizarre threats.

Neither Mr. Trump nor Ms Williamson would have posed any challenge at all to Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, let alone Franklin Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower at the top of their games.

Mr. Joe Biden has enough warmth and shrewdness to handle her too.

But Ms Elizabeth Warren was designed by Heaven or the Astral Plane for Marianne Williamson to take down.

Forget the vast supporting cast of 17 political performing dwarves in the Great Debates: The coming Democratic presidential race could prove vastly more entertaining and unexpected than anyone imagines.
