The CIAs Anti-Democracy Actions by Jacob G. Hornberger!
It is nice to see Democrats and the mainstream press emphasizing the virtues of democracy in the context of their condemnations of President Donald Trump for refusing to concede the presidential election to Joe Biden.
But let us not forget five anti-democratic actions taken in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970 by the Central Intelligence Agency, which is the pride and glory of both Democrats and the mainstream press (well, yes, of Republicans as well.)
1. Iran, 1953. The CIA instigated a coup in Iran that ousted the democratically elected prime minister of the country and replaced him with the Shah, a brutal, pro-CIA dictator. To assist him maintain his iron grip on tyranny on the Iranian people, the CIA built up the Shahs domestic military-intelligence police force known as the SAVAK, which was a combination Pentagon, FBI, CIA, and NSA. The CIAs anti-democratic action is the root cause of bad relations between the United States and Iran today.
2. Guatemala, 1954. The CIA instigated a coup that ousted the democratically elected president of the country, Jacobo Arbenz, and replaced him with a brutal, rightwing, pro-CIA military general. The CIAs anti-democratic action threw the country into a three-decade civil war that killed more than a million people.
3. Congo, 1961. The CIA conspired to assassinate Congos democratically elected president Patrice Lumumba. Since the CIA knew that newly elected United States President John F. Kennedy would disapprove of the assassination, the CIA ensured that Lumumba was killed before Kennedy could stop it.
4. United States, 1963. The CIA, in combination with the Pentagon, instigated John F. Kennedys assassination. The United States national security establishment had waged a vicious war against the president since his election, which finally culminated in Kennedys murder in Dallas. Given the CIAs assassination partnership with the Mafia to murder Cuban leader Fidel Castro, it is a virtual certainty that the Mafia also participated in the crime by murdering Lee Harvey Oswald. The mainstream press has always steadfastly refused to address the fraudulent autopsy conducted on the presidents body, which was conducted by the United States military and supervised by the United States deep state. (See my two books The Kennedy Autopsy and The Kennedy Autopsy 2). Kennedys assassination led to the continuation of the Cold War and to the Vietnam War. America has yet to recover from the the national-security establishments assassination of President Kennedy.
5. Chile 1973. The CIA instigated a coup in Chile that left the democratically elected president of the country, Salvador Allende, dead and replaced by a brutal, rightwing, pro-CIA military dictator named Augusto Pinochet, who ruled Chile for the next 17 years with an iron fist. In the name of "fighting communism," some 50,000 innocent people were rounded up and tortured, raped, or sexually abused. Around 3,000 innocent people were executed or disappeared.
Through it all, Democrats and the mainstream press (along with Republicans) have steadfastly protected the continued existence of the CIA as part of the United States of Americas governmental structure.
Thus, when Democrats and the mainstream press label Donald Trumps refusal to concede the election to Joe Biden as a threat to "democracy," too bad they do not have the same concern for the democratic systems that the CIA has destroyed or severely damaged.
