Erdogan says Israel poses threat to whole world, not just Palestine and Lebanon!
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned on Tuesday that Israel poses a threat to the whole world, not just Palestine and Lebanon. He said that the occupation state is acting "like a terrorist organisation: in light of the continued brutal aggression against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the escalation of Israeli threats against Lebanon, all, apparently, without any recognition or acknowledgement of international law.
"Israel is the only state in our region that seeks its security through aggression, massacres and the occupation of lands, and acts like a terrorist organisation" Erdogan told a meeting of the leadership of regional branches of the ruling Justice and Development Party. The event was broadcast by TRT Haber.
OPINION: The extent of Israels internalised violence
Erdogans comments come amid escalating tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv after he threatened that his country could intervene militarily in Israel as it did previously in Libya and the Azerbaijani region of Karabakh.
"We do not violate the rights of others, nor do we allow anyone to violate our rights, and we will not leave our brothers [the Palestinians] alone and helpless in their most difficult days," explained the Turkish leader. "Gaza today has turned into the worlds largest death camp. The State of Israel is a threat not only to Palestine and Lebanon, but to humanity as a whole. The [Israeli] genocide, this cruelty and barbarism must be stopped immediately before it is too late. How many more thousands of children must die to make one see that Israels aggressive policies are a threat to the entire region?"
In response, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz threatened Erdogan that he could repeat the fate of Saddam Hussein, who led Iraq from 1979 to 2003 and was executed in 2006.
